Counselor-in-Training | Olive Branch Counseling
Dear Reader,
Welcome to my professional counseling e-portfolio. I am currently a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Grand Canyon University and a counselor-in-training dedicated to developing ethical, compassionate, and evidence-based counseling practice.
This portfolio represents my clinical development as I continue to grow through academic training, supervision, and direct client experience. Throughout my coursework and practicum experiences, I have focused on integrating theory with practice while maintaining a strong commitment to culturally responsive and client-centered care.
My developing theoretical orientation draws primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe effective counseling occurs within a safe, empathetic relationship where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported as they explore challenges and develop meaningful change. My approach emphasizes collaboration, emotional safety, and practical strategies that empower individuals to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
In addition to theoretical integration, I strive to embody the core counselor dispositions that guide ethical and professional practice, including empathy, self-awareness, cultural humility, patience, and psychological fitness. These qualities support my commitment to providing counseling services that are both clinically informed and deeply human.
Within this portfolio, you will find examples of my academic work, clinical reflections, case conceptualizations, and developing professional philosophy. Each component reflects my dedication to continuous learning and my commitment to serving clients with integrity and care.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my professional journey as a counselor-in-training.
Sincerely,
Christy L. Parisi, B.S.
